The process has been simplified through the West Bengal government’s eDistrict 2.0 portal. In this post, we will discuss step-by-step how you can apply for a Domicile Certificate online.

Registration on the eDistrict 2.0 Portal

First, you need to register on the eDistrict 2.0 portal. Follow the steps below:

  • Visit the Website: Go to the eDistrict 2.0 portal (https://edistrict.wb.gov.in/portal/home).
  • Sign Up: Click on the “Sign Up” option on the homepage.
  • Provide Information: Create a username by providing your name, email ID, mobile number, and date of birth.
  • OTP Verification: An OTP will be sent to your mobile number. Use it to verify your account.

Application Process

Once registration is complete, log in with your username and password. Then, navigate from the “Services” section to “Certificate” and select the “Local Resident Domicile Certificate” option.

The application process is divided into four steps:

1. Applicant’s Basic Information:

  • Fill in your personal details, such as name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar number (if available).

2. Applicant’s Permanent Address:

  • Correctly enter your permanent address, including village/city, police station, district, PIN code, etc.

3. Current Address and Guardian’s Details:

  • If your current and permanent addresses are the same, select the “Permanent Address of Applicant” option.
  • Provide the name and occupation of your father, mother, or husband.

4. Place of Birth, Education, and Period of Stay:

  • Provide details about your place of birth, educational qualifications, and where you have resided for the last 15 years.
  • If you are involved in any business or service, mention that as well.
  • If you or your parents own any immovable property in West Bengal, provide its details, such as plot number, mouza, and dag number.
  • State the reason for applying for the Domicile Certificate (e.g., for a scholarship, OBC certificate, or college admission).

Document Upload

After filling out the application form, you need to upload the required documents:

  • Proof of Residence: A residential certificate obtained from the Gram Panchayat or Municipality.
  • Proof of Identity: Aadhaar Card.
  • Photograph: Applicant’s recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Land Deed: Khatian, Deed, or Porcha.
  • Proof of Birth: Birth Certificate or Secondary School Admit Card.

Application Submission and Certificate Download

After uploading all the documents, click the “Save” and then the “Submit” button. You will then receive an application number, which you can use to track the status of your application. Once the application is approved, you can download your Domicile Certificate from the portal.
