Background and Current Situation
The Supreme Court passed a landmark judgment on February 5, 2026, directing the state to clear pending DA dues. Consequently, excluding grant-in-aid institutions, most state government employees have already received their DA arrears. However, many Group A, B, and C employees are anxious to verify whether the funds have successfully been credited to their GPF accounts. The primary issue is that the GPF Statement from the Accountant General of Bengal (AGWB CAG) has not been updated yet. Furthermore, since the transaction occurred in the 2026-2027 financial year, it will not reflect in older statements.
How to Check GPF Credit via WBIFMS HRMS
Since the AGWB portal lacks the latest update, employees can easily verify the credit status through the Employee Self-Service on the WBIFMS portal (wbifms.gov.in). Here is the step-by-step guide:
- Log in to the wbifms.gov.in portal using your ‘ese login’ credentials.
- Navigate to the ‘GPF’ section and click on ‘Report’.
- Select ‘GPF Account Statement’.
- Choose the Financial Year as ‘2026-2027’.
- Set the Statement Type to ‘Detail Statement’ and click ‘Generate Report’.
- In the generated report, look for two separate rows: one indicating the normal subscription for March 2026, and the other displaying the Arrear DA voucher number.
- Verify if the ‘Interest effective’ date is mentioned as 01.05.2026. For context, the current GPF interest rate for 2026-27 is 7.1 percent.
Discrepancy Between HRMS and AGWB Balances
Many employees attempting to view their DA arrear credit directly on the AGWB portal are finding it invisible. It is crucial to note that the GPF statement downloaded from HRMS will not perfectly match the final AGWB balance at this moment. This discrepancy exists because the HRMS database is not synchronized in real-time with the AGWB system.
Impact
This self-verification method provides significant relief to government employees. Instead of waiting indefinitely for the AGWB statement to reflect the new financial year’s data, personnel can independently confirm the secure deposit of their arrears. It assures them that the 24-month lock-in period and subsequent interest accumulation (starting May 2026) are correctly logged in the state’s financial system, eliminating unnecessary anxiety.
Latest Update
According to the latest government guidelines, the DA arrears for the 2016-2019 period are being disbursed in two installments (March and September 2026). The amount credited to the GPF account is subject to a 24-month lock-in period before it becomes eligible for any withdrawal.
