- Gas Cylinder: Cooking gas or any other type of gas cylinder.
- Stove: Any kind of stove or fire-starting equipment.
- Matchbox: Matchboxes or lighters.
- Cigarettes: Cigarettes or bidis.
All these items are flammable and can cause a major fire incident. This strict measure has been taken keeping the safety of passengers in mind.
Why this precaution?
In the past, several accidents have occurred on trains and at station premises during festive seasons. A tragic incident at the New Delhi Railway Station during the Kumbh Mela resulted in the death of 18 people in a stampede. Learning from that incident, the railway authorities are now much more cautious. Several steps are being taken to manage the crowd of passengers and ensure safety.
