Madhyamik Result Date 2026: The long wait for students is finally over. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has officially locked in May 8, 2026, as the result day for the secondary examinations. This major update came through a formal press release issued from Nivedita Bhawan on Friday, April 17.

Instant Marksheet Distribution
In a move that brings huge relief to students, the Board has decided to hand out physical marksheets on the day of the result itself. According to official notification DS(C)/073/26, signed by Board Secretary S. Ghebu, school representatives can collect marksheets and certificates from designated camp offices on the morning of May 8. Schools will then immediately distribute these documents to the students. This means examinees won’t have to wait for several days after checking their scores online.
Rely Only on Official Sources
While the excitement builds, the WBBSE has issued a stern warning against misinformation. Students are explicitly advised to disregard social media rumors or unverified news. The Board emphasizes that only official communications should be trusted. Detailed instructions on how to access the result portal and check individual scores will be released shortly.
Early Results to Fast-Track Admissions
Announcing the dates well in advance helps schools manage their administrative logistics effectively. Although this will coincide with the summer holidays, school heads must arrange duty rosters to ensure marksheets are distributed smoothly on May 8. On the flip side, students now have a clear timeline to decide their future streams, be it Science, Commerce, or Arts. This early window will significantly speed up the Grade 11 admission process across West Bengal.
A Recap of the 2026 Exams
For context, the 2026 Madhyamik exams were conducted from February 2 to February 12. With lakhs of students appearing across thousands of centers, the Board has worked hard to maintain its tradition of declaring results within the first fortnight of May. Historically, the passing percentage has remained steady, and the Board aims to uphold that standard this year as well. Students will be able to access their subject-wise breakdown using their roll number and date of birth.
Provision for Post-Publication Review
Not every student might be satisfied with their scores, and for them, the Board offers a safety net. Students can apply for Post Publication Scrutiny (PPS) or Post Publication Review (PPR) through their respective schools. Once the marksheets are in hand, the application window will open for a limited period. School authorities will be responsible for uploading these requests onto the WBBSE portal to ensure a fair and transparent assessment for every candidate.
