New Twist in Primary Teacher Recruitment Case, Supreme Court Order & WBBPE

Primary Teacher Recruitment Case: A very critical situation has arisen for D.El.Ed 2020-2022 job aspirants. With a recent move by the Supreme Court, their job future is now facing uncertainty. At a time when their appointment seemed almost certain, new legal complications have now emerged. In this blog post, we will discuss the entire matter in detail and try to understand what awaits the job aspirants in the coming days.

Current Status of the Case

Controversy over the primary teacher recruitment process in West Bengal is not new. Recently, D.El.Ed 2020-2022 job aspirants saw a ray of hope when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of their appointment. But some steps by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) are now dimming that light of hope.

The Supreme Court’s Previous Order

On April 4th of this year, the Supreme Court gave an important verdict. In that ruling, it was ordered to appoint candidates from the D.El.Ed 2020-2022 batch in the 2022 primary teacher recruitment process. They were supposed to be appointed to about 2100 of the 11,765 vacant posts. This verdict created new enthusiasm among the job aspirants, and they began to wait for their appointments.

Inaction of the Primary Education Board

Despite the clear directive from the Supreme Court, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) did not implement the order. Even after the deadline passed, no initiative was taken to start the recruitment process. This inaction has led to intense anger and frustration among the job aspirants.

The New Legal Battle

As a result of the board’s inaction, the case has once again reached the Supreme Court. This time, two new applications have been filed, which have further complicated the situation.

  • Board’s New Application: The Primary Education Board has filed a new Miscellaneous Application in the Supreme Court. In this application, they have sought clarification from the court on several issues related to the recruitment. The board argues that besides the D.El.Ed 2020-2022 candidates, there are also orders to appoint NIOS D.El.Ed and other “Unabsorbed” candidates. Therefore, they want the court’s direction on whom to give priority.
  • Contempt of Court Case Against the Board: On the other hand, a contempt of court application has also been filed against the board. The petitioners allege that the board has committed contempt of court by not complying with the Supreme Court’s order within the stipulated time. The board’s president, Gautam Pal, has also been named a party in this case.

What is the Future for the Job Aspirants?

Currently, the future of the D.El.Ed 2020-2022 job aspirants depends entirely on the next hearing in the Supreme Court. It is feared that the board’s delaying tactics and new legal complications will further prolong their recruitment process. However, since they have the Supreme Court’s previous ruling in their favor, they are still hopeful. Their fate depends on the instructions the Supreme Court gives in the coming days.
