Major Changes in Primary Teacher Recruitment! Interviews to be Video-recorded for Transparency in 13,000 Posts, Know the New Rules

Primary Teacher Recruitment: The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has taken a series of groundbreaking decisions to bring transparency to the primary teacher recruitment process. These new rules are being implemented to fill approximately 13,421 vacant primary teacher posts in schools across the state. According to sources, the board has adopted these stringent measures to keep the recruitment process completely corruption-free and transparent. The online application process for this recruitment drive is started.

Sources within the board have indicated that every stage of this recruitment process will be managed with extreme caution. Learning from past allegations related to recruitment, this new system is being introduced. From the application process to interviews and document verification, strict monitoring will be in place at every step.

Videography to Ensure Transparency

The biggest and most significant decision in this recruitment process is the videography of the entire interview procedure. The interview of each candidate will be recorded on camera from start to finish. This will ensure that the entire process is documented with the board, and if any complaints arise later, there will be an opportunity to review the footage. This step is being considered a milestone in ensuring transparency.

Confidentiality and New Rules in Awarding Marks

To maintain fairness in the recruitment process, major changes have also been introduced in the system for awarding marks.

  • Confidentiality Among Experts: The experts conducting the interviews will not be aware of the marks given by one another. Each expert will award marks based on their own assessment.
  • Online Mark Submission: After the interview, experts will submit the marks online directly to the board’s server. This will eliminate any possibility of altering marks or engaging in any form of manipulation.
  • Central Server: All marks will be stored on the board’s central server, which will be highly secure.

Strict Document Verification Process

To curb the trend of securing jobs using fake or forged documents, a three-step verification process has been decided upon. This system is designed to ensure that no candidate can submit incorrect or fraudulent documents. Every certificate and document will be scrutinised thoroughly. It has been reported from board sources that no negligence will be tolerated in this process.

Centralised Interview and Verification

Previously, the interview and verification processes were conducted at the offices of the District Primary School Councils (DPSC). However, that rule has now been changed. To bring more control and transparency to the recruitment process, the interview and document verification for all candidates will be conducted centrally at the Kolkata office of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. This will allow the entire state’s recruitment process to be managed from a single location, facilitating better coordination and oversight.
