SAR Deadline Extension: Big Relief for Govt Employees! SAR Submission Deadline Extended on HRMS Portal, Know the New Dates
SAR Deadline Extension: Here is a piece of extremely relieving news for the state government employees. The Government of West Bengal has once again extended the deadline for submitting the Self-Appraisal Report (SAR) on the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) portal. The e-Governance Group of the Finance Department has issued a new memorandum (Memo. No.3969-F(eGOV)) in this regard, published on 13th November 2025. This decision brings a significant opportunity for all those officers and employees who could not complete their annual appraisal process within the stipulated time for various reasons.
This extension will provide employees with additional time to complete their pending work. The state government has primarily taken this step based on requests received from various departments and authorities.
New Timelines for Appraisal
This new memorandum issued by the Finance Department partially modifies the previous one (Memo Number 2236-F-(eGOV) dated 17/06/2025) and announces the revised dates. New deadlines have been set for various levels of officers to complete all pending appraisals. This extended timeline will be applicable for all pending SAR appraisals from the financial year 2018-19 to 2024-25.

- Accepting Officer: For the final stage, the last date of appraisal for Accepting Officers has been extended to 31st December 2025.
Why is This Step So Important?
The Self-Appraisal Report or SAR is an essential part of a government employee’s career. It forms the basis for their annual performance evaluation, promotion, and other service-related benefits. This extension provides a window to complete pending appraisals for a long period, from the 2018-19 to the 2024-25 financial year, covering almost seven years.
In many cases, numerous employees and officials are unable to complete this process on time due to administrative workloads, technical issues, or other reasons. This move by the government provides ample time to clear all such backlogs. This will not only benefit the employees individually but also help the administration in keeping all employee records up-to-date, thereby improving overall efficiency.
Important Advice for Employees
This decision by the state government is undoubtedly commendable and a source of relief. However, all concerned Reporting, Reviewing, and Accepting Officers are requested to start the process as soon as possible instead of waiting for the last date.
Since the work for nearly seven financial years needs to be completed simultaneously, it is natural that the HRMS portal might face technical glitches or excessive server load at the last minute. To avoid such issues, it is strongly advised to complete all pending SAR appraisal processes under their purview swiftly within this extended timeframe.
