SSC Teacher Protest: SSC Teachers March to Nabanna Today, State Ready to Stop them

SSC Teacher Protest: The eligible teachers are on the streets again to demand their rights. Candidates who lost their jobs due to alleged corruption in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment process have once again called for a ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ (march to Nabanna). This protest is being organized under the leadership of the ‘Jogya Shikshak Shikshika Adhikar Mancha’ (Platform for the Rights of Eligible Teachers), with the main demands being the publication of the list of eligible and ineligible candidates and the restoration of their jobs through a review petition.
Protest March to Nabanna
The teachers who lost their jobs are scheduled to gather at Howrah station at 11 AM today. From there, they will march towards Nabanna. In light of this protest, strict security arrangements have been made in and around the Nabanna area. The police and administration are on alert to prevent any untoward incidents. Barricades have been placed on the roads leading to Nabanna.
Eyes on the High Court
Alongside the street protests, the case is also being heard in court. The SSC case is scheduled for a hearing in the Division Bench of the High Court today. The Division Bench had earlier ruled that ineligible candidates cannot sit for the exam. In today’s hearing, decisions may be made on several other important issues, including:
- A challenge to the rule of granting an additional 10 marks for teaching experience.
- Age relaxation and other related matters.
Lawyers for the eligible candidates and those on the waiting list who were affected will present their arguments today. It is expected that if the arguments conclude, a verdict may be announced today itself.
The Future of Job Aspirants
This protest and the court’s verdict will determine the future of thousands of job aspirants in West Bengal. The entire state is watching to see if their just rights will be established. It remains to be seen how successful the eligible teachers will be in their fight.
