WB Health Scheme Enrollment Deadline Extended for Government Employees and Pensioners Know the Last Date
WB Health Scheme: The West Bengal Finance Department has brought significant relief and good news for state government employees and pensioners right at the end of the year. The deadline for enrollment and generating digital certificates under the West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) has been extended once again. This latest notification from the Medical Cell of the Finance Department is set to alleviate the concerns of thousands of employees and retired officials who were yet to complete their registration process.
What Does the New Notification Say?
According to the new notification memo number 190-F(Med)WB issued by the State Finance Department (Medical Cell) on December 30, 2025, the Governor has been pleased to extend the timeline for online enrollment and generation of digital certificates under the health scheme. As per the new directive, this deadline has now been extended up to January 31, 2026.
Previously, as per notification number 130-F(Med)WB published on August 5, 2025, the last date for completing this process was October 31, 2025. However, considering that a number of employees and pensioners might face difficulties accessing medical benefits without valid enrollment, the decision to extend the deadline was taken to ensure a smooth transition into the new year.
Who Will Benefit?
This directive from the Finance Department applies to a wide range of beneficiaries under the state government. The categories include:
- Existing State Government Employees.
- State Government Pensioners and Family Pensioners.
- All India Service (AIS) Officers and Pensioners serving in the state.
Importance of Digital Enrollment Certificate
As per previous guidelines, every beneficiary must upload certain ‘Vital Information’ on the West Bengal Health Scheme portal (healthscheme.wb.gov.in). Without these details, the digital certificate remains incomplete. The mandatory information includes:
- Recent colored photograph of the beneficiary.
- Signature.
- Blood Group.
- Aadhaar Card details.
In many instances, even though the Head of Office (HoO) or Pension Sanctioning Authority (PSA) has approved the issuance, the process remains pending due to missing photos or signatures of the beneficiaries. The extension until January 31, 2026, provides a final window to complete these pending tasks.
Deadline Changes at a Glance
The table below clearly illustrates the changes in the timeline:
| Description | Old Deadline (Order 130-F) | New Extended Deadline (Order 190-F) |
|---|---|---|
| Enrollment Process & Data Upload | October 31, 2025 | January 31, 2026 |
| Issuance of Digital Certificate | October 31, 2025 | January 31, 2026 |
What Should You Do Now?
If you have not yet updated your enrollment or downloaded the new digital certificate under the West Bengal Health Scheme for yourself or your family members, do not delay further.
- Employees: Immediately contact your DDO or Head of Office to update your information.
- Pensioners: Contact your Treasury or Pension Disbursing Authority to ensure your photo, signature, and Aadhaar details are correctly uploaded to the portal.
- Reminder: Without a valid digital enrollment certificate, you may face significant hurdles in availing cashless facilities during hospitalization or claiming reimbursement for medical expenses.
This decision by the State Government to extend the deadline is expected to benefit many people. All beneficiaries are requested to complete their pending work by January 31, 2026.
