Procedure to Link Mobile Number with Ration Card
To link your mobile number online, you need to visit the official portal of the West Bengal Government’s Food Department and follow a few simple steps.
1. Visit the Official Website:
First, open the official website of the West Bengal Food Department, food.wb.gov.in, from your mobile or computer browser. This is the main portal for all ration-related services.

After the webpage opens, scroll down to the bottom to find the ‘E-Ration Card’ option. Click on this option to proceed to the next step.
3. Navigate to Download Page:
Clicking the option will open a new window or tab. There, find and click on the link that says ‘Click here to download e-Ration Card’. The process of linking the mobile number essentially starts from this page.
4. Search with Card Details:
Enter your Ration Card number correctly in the specified box. Carefully fill in the captcha code provided next to it and click the ‘Search’ button.
5. Status Check and OTP Verification:
After searching, if no phone number is linked to your card, the system will display that no mobile number is tagged with the family. At this stage, follow these steps:
- The screen will show a list of your family members and their Aadhaar linking status.
- Select any member whose Ration Card is linked with Aadhaar.
- Click on the ‘Send OTP’ option next to their name.
- This will send an OTP to the mobile number registered with that member’s Aadhaar card.
- Enter the received OTP in the designated field and verify to proceed.
6. Adding New Mobile Number:
Upon successful Aadhaar verification, the next page will ask you to link a mobile number for downloading the e-Ration Card. Here, enter the phone number you wish to use for the Ration Card. Please note, there is no obligation for this number to be the same as your Aadhaar-linked number; you can provide any active mobile number. Enter the number and click on ‘Send OTP’.
7. Final Submission:
You will receive a 4-digit OTP on the new mobile number you provided. Enter that OTP in the portal and click the ‘Verify and Submit’ button.
Result and Benefits
Immediately after submission, you will see the phone number updated next to the specific member’s name. Once this number is linked, it will act as a ‘Common Number’ for the entire family. In the future, you can easily complete tasks like downloading the Ration Card, making corrections, or accessing any other online services using the OTP received on this mobile number.
