Sangrami Joutha Mancha: The agitation of West Bengal state government employees is set to reach a critical juncture on January 27, 2026. The ‘Sangrami Joutha Mancha’, which has been protesting for a long time demanding Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears and transparent recruitment, has announced a massive program. To mark the 3rd anniversary of their continuous sit-in demonstration at the Shahid Minar grounds, a ‘Maha Samabesh’ (Grand Assembly) has been organized. In this event, both government employees and job seekers will unite to voice their demands.

State government employees have been vocal about their DA demands for a significant period. However, this assembly is not limited to just DA issues. Under the banner of ‘Chakrijibi O Chakrihara Oikya Mancha’ (United Platform of Employed and Unemployed), an attempt is being made to broaden the scope of this movement. The demands put forward by the organization are highly significant for the state’s administrative and social sectors.

• Central Rate DA: Payment of all arrears in accordance with the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) at the central rate, along with the issuance of a permanent government order regarding this matter.
• Permanent Recruitment for Vacancies: There are allegations that approximately 6 lakh posts are lying vacant in various state government departments. The forum has demanded the immediate commencement of a transparent and permanent recruitment process for these positions.
• Regularization of Temporary Staff: Regularization of services and provision of adequate social security for all eligible irregular or contractual employees.
• Transfer Policy: An immediate halt to the process of vindictive transfers or harassment of employees through detailment to distant locations.
