PM Kisan Registration 2026 Started Online Application Process and New Rules for Farmers

PM Kisan Registration: The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is one of the most significant financial support schemes by the Central Government for Indian farmers. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive an annual grant of ₹6,000. The registration process for new farmers for the year 2026 has commenced. However, before applying, it is crucial to understand the updated rules, especially regarding land ownership eligibility, to avoid rejection.

Strict Rules on Land Ownership (Eligibility)

The most major change in PM Kisan registration pertains to land title dates. Merely owning land does not guarantee eligibility anymore. For those who became land owners after 2019, the specific rules are as follows:

  • Inherited Land: If the land record was transferred to your name after 2019 due to the demise of your father, mother, or grandfather, you remain eligible for the scheme. While filling out the form, you must select the correct reason for transfer, such as ‘Death of Father’ or ‘Death of Husband’.
  • Purchased Land: If you purchased land and registered it in your name after 2019, or acquired ownership through any other general transfer method, you are not eligible for PM Kisan benefits. Such applications will be rejected during verification.

Required Documents Checklist

Before starting the online application, ensure you have the following documents ready to avoid errors during data entry.

DocumentPurpose
Aadhaar CardFor identity verification of applicant and spouse.
Land Record (Parcha/RoR)Proof of Khatian/Dag number and PDF upload.
Mobile NumberLinked with Aadhaar for OTP verification.
Ration CardTo verify family details.

Step-by-Step Online Registration Process

You can apply directly through the official PM Kisan portal using a mobile or computer. Here is the breakdown of the process:

1. Primary Verification: Visit the official website and click on ‘New Farmer Registration’. Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and select your state to generate an OTP. Verify using the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

2. Personal Details Verification: Once verified, details like Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Father’s Name will automatically fetch from the Aadhaar database. You only need to manually select your Category (SC/ST/General) and enter the Ration Card number. If married, Aadhaar authentication for the spouse is mandatory.

3. Land Details Entry: This is a critical step. After selecting your District, Block, and Village, carefully enter the Khatian Number, Dag Number, and Land Area (in acres). Choose ‘Joint’ if the land is jointly owned, or ‘Single’ for individual ownership.

4. Land Transfer Details: You must specify the date when the land was transferred to your name and the reason (Succession/Inheritance etc.). Finally, upload a clear PDF copy of your land record and click ‘Save’ to submit the form.

Next Steps and Payment Process

Many applicants mistakenly believe that submitting the online form is the final step. However, after online submission, you should check your status under ‘Status of Self Registered Farmer’. Subsequently, take a printout of the application receipt and submit it along with photocopies of your Aadhaar, Bank Passbook, and Land Record to your local Agriculture Department office (ADA Office). Your name will be added to the beneficiary list only after physical verification by the department.

Currently, PM Kisan funds are disbursed directly via the Aadhaar Based Payment System (DBT). Therefore, there is no need to manually enter a bank account number in the form. The money will be credited to whichever bank account is actively linked with your Aadhaar and DBT.
