SSC Recruitment: WBSSC Group C and Group D Exam Date Announced for March Recruitment 2025
SSC Recruitment: The long wait for lakhs of job aspirants in West Bengal is finally coming to an end. Just before the upcoming Assembly elections, there has been a significant development regarding the recruitment of non-teaching staff in state schools. Nabanna, the state administrative headquarters, has given the final approval or ‘green signal’ to the School Service Commission (SSC) for conducting the recruitment exams. Consequently, the written examinations for two major posts are scheduled to be held in March.
Numerous educated youths across the state have been eyeing this recruitment drive. This decision by Nabanna has instilled fresh hope among them. According to administrative sources, the School Service Commission has started preparations in full swing immediately after receiving the approval.
Confirmed Exam Schedule
According to sources from the Commission and Nabanna, the dates for the recruitment exams have been finalized. Following the stamp of approval from the state administration, it has been decided that these exams will be conducted in the first and second weeks of March.
- March 1: The written examination for the Group-C post will be held on this date.
- March 8: The written examination for the Group-D post will be conducted on this date.
To manage this massive exercise over two consecutive weeks, the Commission has started working on a war footing. The selection of exam centers and the preparation of question papers are also progressing rapidly.
Vacancies vs. Applicants: A Tough Competition
There is a significant shortage of non-teaching staff in schools across the state, which this initiative aims to address. However, statistics suggest that the battle for these jobs will not be easy. Sources from the Commission reveal that the number of applicants is sky-high compared to the total vacancies. Approximately 16 lakh candidates have applied for these two categories combined. This implies intense competition among hundreds of candidates for each single seat.
The detailed breakdown of vacancies and posts is provided below:
| Category | Number of Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Group-C | 2,989 |
| Group-D | 5,488 |
| Total Vacancies | 8,477 |
Conducting the examination smoothly for such a massive number of examinees is a major challenge for the Commission. However, officials are optimistic that the process will be completed with the full cooperation of the administration.
Acceleration of Recruitment Before Elections
The Assembly elections in the state are around the corner. Generally, once the Model Code of Conduct comes into force before the elections, it becomes difficult to initiate any new major recruitment process. Therefore, the State Education Department was keen to push forward this stalled recruitment process before that deadline.
The Education Department had earlier sent a proposal regarding the dates and framework of this exam to Nabanna. Keeping the future of job seekers in mind and to fill administrative vacancies, Nabanna approved this proposal without delay. According to political analysts, such a large-scale recruitment exam before the polls sends a positive message regarding employment in the state. Candidates are now eagerly waiting for the admit cards and detailed exam guidelines.
