The West Bengal government has brought a significant update for women across the state. The ‘Annapurna Bhandar’ or ‘Annapurna Yojna’ is set to launch on June 1, 2026. Under this scheme, eligible women will receive a monthly grant of 3,000 rupees credited directly to their bank accounts.
According to the official guidelines, the scheme aims to bolster the financial security of women. However, eligibility is age-bound; applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal aged between 25 and 60.

Migration from Lakshmir Bhandar
For those already receiving Lakshmir Bhandar benefits, there is no need for concern. The government has confirmed that existing beneficiaries will be migrated automatically to the Annapurna Yojna.
However, this transition is not automatic approval for funds. A strict verification process will be in place; BDOs in rural areas and SDOs in urban zones will review existing lists. Names will only be cleared for the 3,000-rupee payment once these officials certify the data and final approval is granted by the DM or KMC.
Who is Excluded from the Scheme?
The government has clearly outlined who cannot apply. Income tax payers are strictly ineligible, as are government employees and pensioners. This exclusion extends to staff in statutory bodies, Panchayats, Municipalities, and teaching or non-teaching staff in government-run educational institutions.
Furthermore, individuals marked as ASDD (Absentee, Shifted, Deleted, Dead) during voter list verification will be excluded. Similarly, those with pending applications in the tribunal must wait for a formal resolution before their claims can be processed.
Mandatory Bank Account Rules
Three technical requirements are crucial for the disbursement of funds. First, the account must be in the applicant’s name alone. Second, the account must be linked to an Aadhaar card. Finally, the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) feature must be enabled. Failure to meet these requirements will cause payment issues, even for otherwise eligible applicants.
New Application Process 2026
For women not currently enrolled in any social security scheme, a fresh application window opens on June 1, 2026, through a dedicated ‘Annapurna Yojna Portal’.
Once an application is submitted online, local authorities will verify the data before forwarding it to the DM or KMC office for final vetting. This rigorous verification process is designed to ensure transparency and guarantee that only genuine residents of West Bengal receive the increased monthly assistance.
