Moving the process online allows farmers to directly cross-check their Aadhaar credentials, land plot numbers, and bank account details. This direct method removes reliance on intermediaries and guarantees that insurance claim amounts reach bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) without administrative hurdles.
Step-by-Step App Installation and Account Setup
To initiate registration, download the official Crop Insurance app from the Google Play Store (the app file size is approximately 27.58 MB).
- Search for and install the Crop Insurance application from the Google Play Store.
- Launch the app, tap the ‘Login’ button on the homepage, and enter your active mobile number.
- Tap ‘Login with OTP’ and verify your account using the 6-digit code received via SMS.
Entering Profile and Bank Details
Once logged in, fill out profile details accurately. Cross-reference every entry with your Aadhaar card and bank passbook to ensure names and numbers match exactly.
- Personal Information: Input your full name, Aadhaar number, father’s or husband’s name, age, gender, and caste category. Click verify next to the Aadhaar field to authenticate via OTP.
- Farmer Status and Address: Select landholding status (‘Owner’) and farmer category (such as Small). Enter your pin code, state, district, sub-division, and village details.
- Nominee and Bank Details: Tick the nominee option to input nominee name, age, and relationship. Enter the bank IFSC code to auto-fetch branch details, type the account number twice, specify individual or joint account status, and complete OTP verification.
Submitting Land and Crop Details
After saving bank details, navigate to the PMFBY Insurance section on the main dashboard.
Select West Bengal as the state, choose the crop season (such as Kharif), and select the current year.
- Land Location: Pick the district, block, gram panchayat, and village from the dropdown lists.
- Crop Information: Select single crop (Individual) or mixed crop choices. Select crop type (such as Aus or Aman paddy) and choose the sowing date from the calendar.
- Khatian and Plot Numbers: Enter Khata (Khatian) and Plot (Dag) numbers. Separate multiple plot numbers using commas (e.g., 55, 236, 863).
Document Upload and Token Premium Payment
Upon proceeding, the screen displays total insured land area alongside the calculated premium details. Farmers must upload supporting documents:
- Bank Passbook: Uploading a clear photo of the bank passbook front page is mandatory.
- Land Record (Porcha) & Sowing Certificate: These documents are optional, meaning your application can proceed even without them.
Review all details and tap ‘Proceed for Payment’. Pay the farmer share premium of Re 1 online via UPI QR code (PhonePe, Google Pay), Net Banking, or Debit Card. Once payment succeeds, a downloadable PDF policy receipt will generate automatically for future reference.
