BLO Remuneration: A long wait is about to end for the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of West Bengal. In light of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 duties, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has issued a crucial notification regarding remuneration. BLOs working across various districts in the state are set to receive their due payments directly into their bank accounts.

Breakdown of the Payment Amount

According to the directive issued on February 26, 2026, a significant fund has been allocated for this purpose. The total allocation for the state stands at over ₹46.65 Crores, with the South 24 Parganas district receiving the highest share.

Here is the detailed calculation of the total entitlement and current payment for a BLO:

• Total Entitlement: As per the rules, a BLO is supposed to receive a total of ₹14,000 (₹12,000 + ₹2,000) for survey and SIR duties.
• Previous Payments: A total of ₹7,000 (₹5,000 + ₹2,000) has already been disbursed in two previous phases.
• Current Payment: Under the current notice, a one-time payment of ₹6,000 will be credited to the account of every eligible BLO very soon.
• Remaining Balance: Even after receiving this ₹6,000, a balance of ₹2,000 remains, which is expected to be released at a later stage.

Who Will Be Excluded from This Payment?

Alongside the news of fund allocation, certain conditions have been clarified. Not all personnel working at the booth level will receive this payment right now.

1. Main BLOs Only: Only one Main BLO per polling station is eligible to receive this ₹6,000.
2. Additional BLOs: Additional BLOs appointed in booths with higher workload will not receive any money under this specific order.
3. Performance Condition: A primary condition for receiving the fund is that the concerned BLO must have completed all assigned tasks on time, adhering to the commission’s guidelines. Incomplete work may lead to the withholding of funds.

Disbursement Timeline and Next Steps

Strict instructions have been given to the District Election Officers (DEOs) to transfer the funds to the BLOs’ bank accounts immediately without any delay. The directive states that the payment process must be completed, and the Utilization Certificate (compliance report) must be submitted by March 10, 2026. Therefore, it is expected that BLOs will start receiving payment notifications in their accounts within the next few days.
