Although the West Bengal Election Commission has not yet released a final official notification, a preliminary draft guideline has surfaced, offering a clear picture of the expected pay for various categories of poll workers. Expected Remuneration for Key Booth Officials

The core responsibility of conducting the election at the booth level lies with the Presiding and Polling Officers. According to the draft data, a Presiding Officer is expected to receive a total remuneration of Rs 3,000 for successfully managing the election process. Meanwhile, the First, Second, and Third Polling Officers are allocated a total expected pay of Rs 2,600.

This total calculation is based on several essential components:

• Training Sessions: For two days of mandatory training, Presiding Officers are expected to receive Rs 1,000, while Polling Officers may get Rs 800.
• Equipment Collection and Poll Day: On the day of collecting EVMs and other materials, the Presiding Officer may receive Rs 500, and Polling Officers Rs 400. A matching amount of Rs 500 and Rs 400 is allocated for the actual polling day or counting day, respectively.
• Refreshment Charges: Keeping the comfort of the workers in mind, a sum of Rs 1,000 has been proposed as a refreshment allowance for both ranks, covering the two critical days.

Pay Structure for Assisting Staff and Other Officials

• Senior and Observing Officials: Micro Observers are slated to receive the highest among this tier at Rs 2,000. Sector Magistrates, Zonal Officers, and Counting Supervisors have an expected pay of Rs 1,500.
• Assistant Officials: Assistant Zonal Officers may receive an allowance of Rs 1,000, while Counting Assistants are allocated Rs 1,400.
• Other Essential Roles: Positions like Reception Officer, Cashier, VAO, and Instructors are expected to receive Rs 1,800. Furthermore, Village Assistants, Office Assistants, and Group D (Fourth Class) workers might be paid Rs 1,700.
