WBSSC SLST Result: WBSSC XI-XII SLST Final Merit List Published with 18,900 Candidates

WBSSC SLST Result: The long wait for thousands of aspiring teachers in West Bengal has finally come to an end. The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has officially published the final merit list and panel for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers for classes XI-XII. Candidates can now access the detailed results on the Commission’s official websites. The notification was released on January 21, 2026.

18,900 Candidates Secure Their Spot

This recruitment drive brings significant news for job seekers. According to the Commission, a total of 18,900 successful candidates have been named in the published results. To ensure transparency and clarity for the examinees, the results have been categorized into three distinct lists this time:

  • Merit List: This contains the names of the finally selected candidates.
  • Waiting List: A list of candidates who are in the queue for future vacancies.
  • Rejected List: A specific list of 303 candidates whose candidature has been cancelled.

Unprecedented Move: Publication of ‘Rejected List’

In a move rarely seen in the history of the SSC, the Commission has published a separate ‘Rejected List’. While candidates often get disqualified during interview rounds or verification processes, publishing a dedicated list for them is an unprecedented step towards transparency.

It has been reported that these 303 candidates were disqualified during the interview or the second stage of verification due to various reasons related to documentation or eligibility criteria. This list clarifies exactly who was rejected and implies the rigorous scrutiny of the process.

Success Rate for In-Service Teachers

The results have also shed light on the performance of in-service teachers (from the 2016 batch) who applied for better opportunities. The data suggests a high success rate:

  • Over 1,000 in-service teachers received calls for the next stages.
  • Approximately 90% of those who reached the interview stage have been successful.
  • However, despite receiving 10 marks for experience, about 10% of these teachers could not make it to the final panel. Those who missed out still have potential opportunities in the IX-X category.

What’s Next: Counseling Schedule

With the results out, all eyes are now on the counseling process. The Commission is planning to commence counseling by the end of this month, with tentative dates set between the 27th and 29th. The list of schools for counseling will be published very soon. As in-service teachers move to new assignments, their previous posts will become vacant, potentially creating new openings for fresh candidates in the future.
