Yubasathi Scheme: Which Bank Account is Required for Yubasathi Scheme Money? Know the Rules

Yubasathi Scheme: Applicants for the ‘Yubasathi’ scheme, which was launched to empower the youth of the state, are currently facing widespread confusion regarding the financial assistance process. Many beneficiaries are deeply worried about the specific type of bank account required to receive the grant. The biggest dilemma among the general public is whether enabling Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in their bank account is strictly mandatory to get this money. To clear up all these doubts, it is essential to understand the actual regulations.

Official Guidelines for the Scheme

According to the rules of the Yubasathi scheme, the funds will be directly credited to the specific bank account that the applicant provided while filling out the application form. However, there is a crucial condition. That particular account must be linked with the applicant’s Aadhaar card. Many people assumed that, similar to LPG subsidies or other central government schemes, DBT or Aadhaar seeding is a must here. But the official guidelines clearly state that there is no need to link DBT separately for this purpose. The grant will be deposited directly into the Aadhaar Linked account via the Treasury.

Understanding Aadhaar Link and Aadhaar Seeding

Common beneficiaries often confuse ‘Aadhaar Link’ with ‘Aadhaar Seeding’ or DBT. There is a major technical difference between the two. A citizen can attach or link their Aadhaar card with multiple bank accounts (such as State Bank, Punjab National Bank, etc.) registered in their name. This is primarily used to complete the KYC process and for biometric transactions.

On the other hand, Aadhaar seeding or DBT linkage can only be done with any one specific bank account at a time. Direct government benefits like PM Kisan or gas subsidies are deposited into this single DBT-enabled account. Fortunately, the Yubasathi scheme does not impose any such strict seeding requirements.

Important Tips for Beneficiaries

Those who have already applied only need to ensure that the bank account mentioned in their form does not become dormant or inactive under any circumstances. If there are no transactions for a long time or if KYC is pending, banks often temporarily freeze the account. Therefore, it is a wise move to visit the bank branch and verify if the account is fully active before the disbursement begins. Even if DBT is not enabled in the account provided in your form, you will face absolutely no issues in receiving the Yubasathi funds.
