According to the notification, the “Karam Puja” festival will be celebrated on 3rd September, 2025, which is a Wednesday. In light of this, the Governor has declared September 3rd, 2025, as a State Government Holiday. Who is Eligible for This Holiday?
This holiday will be applicable to the following bodies and institutions:
- State Government Offices
- Local Bodies
- Statutory Bodies, Boards, Corporations, and Undertakings
- Educational institutions controlled or owned by the State Government
- Employees of tribal communities working in Tea Gardens throughout the State
Which Offices are Exempted?
However, the holiday will not be effective in two government offices. The exempted offices are:
- The office of the Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata
- The office of the Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata

The notification for this holiday was issued with the signature of Shri P.K. Mishra, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal. The official notification number is No.2802-F(P2), and it is dated 29/07/2025. Copies of the notification have been forwarded to numerous government departments for information and necessary action, including the Principal Accountant General, all departmental secretaries, and District Magistrates.
