NOTIFICATION
At present, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Ansari Nagar, New Delhi – 110029, is recognised under the West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) for medical attendance and treatment of beneficiaries outside the State.
Meanwhile, several AIIMS have been established and made operational by the Government of India in different parts of the country. Recognition of certain such institutions located in neighbouring States, as well as AIIMS, Kalyani in West Bengal, is expected to facilitate access to specialised medical treatment for WBHS beneficiaries residing in districts that are geographically distant from Kolkata but find these premier institutions more accessible and convenient for their medical needs.
Accordingly, with a view to facilitating access to medical attendance and treatment for eligible beneficiaries under WBHS, the Governor is pleased to recognise the following institutions for the purpose of medical attendance and treatment under the Scheme:
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, Phulwarisharif, Patna, Bihar – 801507.
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, Changsari, Guwahati, Assam – 781101.
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani, NH-34 Connector, Basantapur, Saguna, Kalyani, West Bengal – 741245.

The admissibility of expenditure incurred on medical attendance and treatment availed of by WBHS beneficiaries at the above-mentioned institutions, as well as at AIIMS, New Delhi shall be governed by the following terms and conditions:
1. Treatment without Prior Permission and admissibility of Expenditure:
No prior permission shall be required under WBHS for a beneficiary to approach any of the above-mentioned AIIMS, including AIIMS, New Delhi, for consultation, investigation, admission or treatment under the In-Patient Department (IPD) or Out-Patient Department (OPD), as medically required.
Reimbursement of admissible expenditure shall be subject to the applicable provisions of WBHS and shall be limited to the actual amount charged by the concerned institution or the corresponding admissible amount under WBHS, whichever is lower. All other applicable conditions, restrictions and ceilings under the Scheme shall continue to apply.
2. Reimbursement for Out-Patient Department (OPD) treatment:
The admissibility of reimbursement for OPD treatment shall continue to be governed by the list of diseases and cases specified in clauses 7(1) and 7(2) of Notification No. 7287-F dated 19th September 2008, read with Notification No. 76-F(MED)WB dated 7th September 2026, as amended from time to time.
Accordingly, reimbursement for OPD treatment shall be admissible only in respect of diseases and cases covered by the aforesaid provisions and subject to the conditions specified therein. OPD treatment for diseases or cases not covered by those provisions shall not be admissible for reimbursement under WBHS merely by virtue of recognition of the institutions under this Notification.
3. Travelling Allowance:
No Travelling Allowance (TA) shall be admissible under WBHS for visits to any of the institutions covered by this Notification.
4. Continuance of existing provisions:
Save as expressly provided in this Notification, all other provisions of WBHS, including the applicable conditions governing medical attendance, treatment, admissibility and reimbursement, shall continue to apply.
