Sangrami Joutha Mancha Press Conference: Stern Warnings to State Government on Transfers, DA, and 2016 Recruitment

Sangrami Joutha Mancha: Today, Bhaskar Ghosh, the convenor of Sangrami Joutha Mancha, held a press conference where he leveled several serious allegations against the state government and warned of larger protests in the coming days. Speaking from the protest stage, which has now completed 863 days, he highlighted three main issues: retaliatory transfers, pending Dearness Allowance (DA), and the cancellation of the 2016 recruitment panel.
Illegal Transfers and the Demand for a Clear Policy
Bhaskar Ghosh alleged that to suppress the movement, the state government is deliberately transferring the leaders of the Mancha to remote areas of the state. Citing the transfer of Kolkata district convenor Sudip Chandra to Alipurduar, he noted that the Calcutta High Court has put a stay on this transfer, which is a significant setback for the state government. The Mancha has declared these transfers completely illegal and retaliatory. In strong protest, they have demanded the implementation of a specific and transparent transfer policy in every government department.
Final Warning on Pending DA
Ghosh also strongly criticized the state government regarding the Dearness Allowance. Referencing the Supreme Court’s verdict, he stated that 25% of the pending DA must be immediately paid to all employees and pensioners. He warned that if the government adopts any discriminatory policy and attempts to deprive certain groups, the Sangrami Joutha Mancha will unite all employee organizations for a larger movement. He also hinted at drastic measures, such as a march to Nabanna (the state secretariat), if necessary.
Opposition to Re-examination for Canceled 2016 Panel
Ghaskar Ghosh clarified the Mancha’s stance on the canceled 2016 panel, stating their opposition to a re-examination. Their demand is for the government to immediately release the mirror images of the OMR sheets it possesses, separate the lists of eligible and ineligible candidates, and terminate the employment of only those who were recruited through corrupt means. He called for submitting the list of eligible candidates to the Supreme Court to save the panel. The Sangrami Joutha Mancha has also pledged to stand by the affected teachers and non-teaching staff and lead their fight.
Overall, this press conference by the Sangrami Joutha Mancha has intensified the pressure on the state government. Their firm stance on critical issues like transfers, DA, and job cancellations could create a new dynamic in state politics in the near future.
