SSC 2010 Case: Justice Served, Court Rejects Decade-Old Plea, Securing Jobs of Thousands of Teachers

SSC 2010 Case: A case filed after a long 14 years has finally been settled. The case, filed in the Calcutta High Court against the 11th RLST (Regional Level Selection Test) 2010 of the SSC, was recently dismissed by the Honorable Justice Saugata Bhattacharya. With this verdict, all the teachers appointed at that time have breathed a sigh of relief. Let’s find out the details of this case.
Background of the case
The incident started with the 11th RLST examination in 2010. The panel for this examination was published on March 22, 2011, and its term expired in 2012. The petitioner, Balaram Maity, filed a case alleging corruption in this examination. However, he filed this case after almost 14 years of the incident.
He told the court that he was mentally ill for about two years, which caused a delay in filing the case. It is noteworthy that no lawyer was willing to take his case, so he argued his own case.
The court’s observation and verdict
After hearing the case, the Honorable Justice Saugata Bhattacharya highlighted several important issues. He said that according to the ‘Limitation Act’ and various Supreme Court judgments, there is a time limit of three years for filing any case. But in this case, the case has been filed after about 14 years.
The court noted that even if the applicant was ill for two years, he could not provide any satisfactory explanation for the long delay from 2014 to 2025.
According to the court’s observation, some important aspects of the subject matter of the case are:
- Delay: There has been an unusual delay in filing the case, which is not legally acceptable.
- No vacancy: All the vacancies have already been filled through the 11th RLST examination. Now if the applicant is to be appointed, then the working teacher has to be dismissed, which is not realistic and legally possible.
- Lack of fairness: It would be a gross injustice to remove those who have been in service for a long time because of a new verdict now.
Considering all these aspects, the Honorable Justice Saugata Bhattacharya dismissed the case. As a result, the teachers appointed through the 11th RLST 2010 will not have to face any more legal complications and they will be able to continue their work with confidence. This verdict proves that the timeframe and the actual situation are very important in the legal process.
