The commission aimed to complete this process by December 31, adhering to the deadline set by the Supreme Court. However, several candidates from the 2016 recruitment cycle filed a case in the High Court against this new notification, demanding an urgent hearing. Their plea was that issuing a new notification without completing the old recruitment process was not legally sound.

During the hearing at the vacation bench, Justice Sougata Bhattacharya clearly stated that since the online application process is scheduled to start on June 16, the court will not interfere at this stage. If any issues arise, the case can be heard in July. In essence, the High Court’s single bench has refused to impose any stay on the recruitment process.
This verdict removes all legal hurdles from the Calcutta High Court for the SSC’s new recruitment notification. Commission officials have stated that the recruitment will be conducted as per the Supreme Court’s directives, and candidates can start applying online from June 16.
