SSC SLST 2025: High Court Order Challenged, Exam Dates Under a Cloud

SSC SLST 2025: The legal battle over the School Service Commission’s Second SLST 2025 exam notification continues. Challengers to the Calcutta High Court’s verdict have now approached the Supreme Court. This new legal complication has once again pushed the examination process into uncertainty. The only question on the minds of the job aspirants is – will the exam be held on schedule?

Background of the Case

The School Service Commission (SSC) published the notification for the Second SLST 2025 in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives. However, some candidates filed a case in the Calcutta High Court against this notification, alleging that the Supreme Court’s instructions were not fully followed.

The Single Bench and the Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court delivered a crucial verdict on July 16th. The verdict stated that the identified candidates would not be allowed to sit for this examination and the exam would proceed according to the 2025 rules. Dissatisfied with this verdict, the petitioners decided to approach the Supreme Court.

Current Situation in the Supreme Court

The case has been filed in the Supreme Court under the title “Arunima Pal Versus State of West Bengal.” However, no hearing date has been set for this case yet. The main reason for this is that 11 defects were identified in the case on July 18th. Until these defects are rectified, a hearing date cannot be assigned.

The petitioners are primarily challenging the July 16th judgment of the Calcutta High Court’s Division Bench, delivered by Justice Somen Sen and Justice Smita Das De. Meanwhile, the School Service Commission has also filed a caveat. This means that the commission must be informed before any hearing of this case, and their arguments must be heard.

What Lies Ahead?

The last date for form submission for the Second SLST exam has been extended to July 21st. September 7th and September 14th have been announced as potential exam dates.

Legal experts believe that if the defects in the case are corrected by Monday, a new hearing date could be announced soon. The crucial question now is whether the Supreme Court will issue a stay order in this case. If a stay is granted, the exam may be postponed. If not, the exam is likely to be held on schedule.

At this moment, all aspirants are advised not to pay attention to any rumors and to keep an eye only on official notifications and the legal proceedings. We are also monitoring the situation and will bring you any new information as it becomes available.
