SSC Teachers: New twist on Abhijit Ganguly’s suggestion, debate on the role of municipalities

SSC Teachers: Renewed activity has begun concerning the protest platform for the state’s sacked teachers. While these teachers have met with BJP MP and former Justice Abhijit Ganguly for legal advice, the Bidhannagar Municipality has also started work on setting up new infrastructure for their demonstration site. However, there is dissatisfaction among the protestors regarding the location provided by the municipality.

Meeting with MP Abhijit Ganguly and Legal Counsel

On Saturday, a delegation of sacked job-seeking aspiring teachers met with BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly. They had a lengthy discussion during which the protestors highlighted their grievances and various aspects of their legal battle. According to sources, Abhijit Ganguly advised them to file a review petition in the Supreme Court. He reportedly assured them that he would personally take the initiative to speak with senior lawyers regarding this matter. Following this meeting, the protestors see a new ray of hope in their legal path.

Bidhannagar Municipality’s Actions and Controversy

Meanwhile, following the Calcutta High Court’s directive, the Bidhannagar Municipality has commenced work on constructing a demonstration platform for the protesting teachers. This platform is being set up near Salt Lake Central Park. Although municipal workers have started the work with bamboo, tarpaulin, and other materials, the protestors are not happy with this location. According to some of them, this site is somewhat distant from the main road and relatively less prominent. They fear that this will prevent their voices from effectively reaching the general public and the administration. It is noteworthy that a previous location provided by the municipality had also sparked controversy.

Protestors’ Next Steps

Despite their dissatisfaction with the new location provided by the municipality, the protestors are determined to continue their demonstration. Alongside their legal battle, they have reportedly sought an appointment to meet with Education Minister Bratya Basu. They have sent a clear message that they will continue their movement until their primary demands are met. For now, they are preparing to approach the Supreme Court and are also seeking discussions with the authorities to move their demonstration platform to a more suitable alternative location.

Overall, the sacked job-seeking teachers’ movement has taken a new turn. While legal advice is offering a new direction, a fresh controversy has arisen over the demonstration site. All eyes are on how this situation will unfold in the coming days. These developments will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the state’s education and administrative spheres.
