TET Wrong Question Case: Latest Update on the Primary TET Case and Listing Date

TET Wrong Question Case: The long wait is finally coming to an end. The hearing for the wrong question case of the 2022 Primary TET examination is scheduled for tomorrow, July 11, 2025. The hearing will take place in the division bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Prosenjit Biswas. Thousands of candidates, whose fates depend on this hearing, are looking forward to this case.

Case Background

This case, MAT Number 917 of 2024, was initially disposed of by Justice Harish Tandon but was reopened following a petition by the Primary Education Board. The Board stated that a third expert’s opinion was necessary to resolve some confusing questions. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the division bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Prosenjit Biswas. The case, titled “West Bengal Board of Primary Education Versus Moushumi Mitra,” is listed as the first item for the hearing.

Expert Committee’s Observations

The third expert committee, formed under the court’s direction, has submitted its report. The report mentions that the experts have not yet reached a consensus on some questions in English (Second Language) and Mathematics. There is particular confusion regarding some questions in the pedagogy section. However, it is clear that there were several errors in the 2022 Primary TET question paper. While it was previously suggested that there were seven incorrect questions, it has now been confirmed that there are errors in at least three to five questions.

Implications for Candidates

The future of many candidates depends on the verdict of this case. The petitioners in this case have a high probability of receiving marks for the incorrect questions. However, for those who are not petitioners and narrowly failed to pass the 2022 TET exam, the chances of receiving these marks are very slim.

Tomorrow’s Hearing

The hearing for this case will begin tomorrow, July 11, 2025, at 2:30 PM. The court will announce its verdict after hearing the final report of the expert committee and the arguments of the Board. Thousands of TET candidates in the state are now looking forward to this hearing. It is hoped that this hearing will bring an end to this long-standing issue and that deserving candidates will receive justice.
