2
Pick the first day of leave.
3
Change the number of days only if you are taking less than the maximum.
4
Read the last day of leave, the weekday, and the date you rejoin duty.

💡 How the Calculation Works

The leave is counted in calendar days, with the first day of leave as day 1. The last day of leave is the first day plus the number of days less one. The date of rejoining is the day after the last day of leave.

The calculator also shows the period in dd/mm/yyyy, its length in weeks and days, and how many days of the leave remain from today.

📐 Calculation Formula

Last day = First day + (Days − 1) · Rejoin on = Last day + 1

📝 Calculation Example

An employee starts maternity leave on 01 April 2026.

Last day of leave: 01 April 2026 + 179 days = 27 September 2026 (a Sunday).

She rejoins duty on 28 September 2026, a Monday. The leave lasts 180 days, or 25 weeks and 5 days.

⚠️ Important Notes & Rules

Maternity leave is counted in calendar days, including Sundays and holidays.

If the date of rejoining falls on a Sunday or holiday, you report on the next working day, subject to the sanctioning authority’s order on suffixing holidays.

The leave is granted by the controlling authority on a medical certificate. This calculator only works out the dates.
