August 2026 Salary Date: With a cluster of holidays lined up at the close of August 2026, state government employees, school teachers, and pensioners across West Bengal were left guessing about their monthly pay cycle. August 28 (Friday) marks an official holiday for Rakhi Bandhan, followed immediately by the weekend.

Holiday Calendar Calculation under Memo 6454-F(Y)

Under West Bengal’s e-Pradan guidelines, regular state staff typically receive their salaries on the penultimate working day of the month. The calendar places August 31, 2026 on a Monday. However, the three days leading up to it—August 28, 29, and 30—are non-working days.

As a result, August 31 effectively counts as the month’s final working day. That pushes the penultimate working day back to Thursday, August 27. Regular employees will thus get their pay credited earlier in the week, right before the festive weekend kicks off.

Disbursement Schedule by Employee Category

Payout dates vary depending on the employee category, as mandated by the Finance Department:

• State Government Employees: August 27, 2026 (Thursday)
• Grant-in-Aid Employees (Schools, Municipalities, Panchayats): August 31, 2026 (Monday)
• Wages, Honorarium, and Stipend: September 1, 2026 (Tuesday)
