This policy explains how WBPAY.in chooses, writes, checks and corrects what it publishes for its readers in West Bengal: government employees, teachers and pensioners, job candidates, students, and people using state schemes and services.

1. What we cover

We cover West Bengal government matters that our readers need to act on: pay, DA, pension, GPF, WBHS, service rules, WBIFMS and HRMS, and income tax for employees and pensioners; education department and board orders, exams and results; state government recruitment; and state schemes and public services. Every article says who is affected and what they need to do. We do not publish general national news, markets, entertainment or content outside this field.

2. Sources

Every update is based on a primary document, and the article links to it:

Finance Department memos and notifications (finance.wb.gov.in)
Orders and circulars of other state departments, boards and commissions
Supreme Court and Calcutta High Court orders and judgments
Notices of the Accountant General (A&E) West Bengal and the Pay & Accounts Office
Central Government notifications where they affect state employees

Official sources include the websites of commissions and boards that do not use a gov.in address, such as the West Bengal School Service Commission. We always give an order’s memo number together with its date, because memo numbers restart every year. Before linking a PDF we open it and confirm that both match.

Every article says which kind of source it rests on:

An official document or page, cited and linked.
A public statement by a named person, such as a minister, a commission chairperson or an employees’ association leader, in a press conference or video. Every claim is attributed to the speaker, and a statement is never presented as an issued order.
WBPAY’s own analysis: explainers, calculations and guides that apply published rules and orders. These are labelled as our analysis and name the rules they rely on; estimates are marked as estimates.

We do not publish rumours or speculation as news. Reports from other media may alert us to a development, but we do not rewrite them; we publish once we can cite one of the sources above.

3. How we use AI

We use AI tools to help draft articles from the official document and to translate between Bengali and English. AI does not decide what we publish. Before any article goes live an editor checks every figure, date, memo number and name against the source document and edits the text. Featured images may be illustrations; they are never presented as photographs of real events.

4. Headlines

Headlines state the news plainly. We do not use exaggerated words, curiosity gaps or headlines that promise more than the article delivers.

5. News, explainers and tools

News reports what an order or judgment says. Explainers and calculators apply the rules to examples; they are our reading of the rules, not legal or financial advice. Check important decisions with your DDO or the authority concerned.

6. Independence and advertising

WBPAY.in is independent and is not affiliated with the Government of West Bengal, any political party, employee union or company. We carry Google AdSense and other advertising, which is kept separate from editorial content. Advertisers have no say in what we publish.

7. Corrections

To report an error, email [email protected] with the subject “Correction Request”, the page link and what is wrong. We review requests within two working days. When an error is confirmed we correct the page and add a note at the end saying what changed and when. Articles that are superseded by a newer order are updated or linked to the newer one.

8. Grievance officer
