As on 11.10.2026, the West Bengal Health Scheme portal lists 205 empanelled private hospitals and 30 empanelled diagnostic centres in West Bengal, 14 state-aided hospitals and 11 speciality hospitals outside the state. All 235 empanelled hospitals and centres are valid up to 31.03.2027.

What is the WBHS cashless limit now?

The cashless limit for indoor treatment in a private empanelled hospital is ₹5,00,000 per hospitalisation for admissions on or after 01.10.2026, under Memorandum No. 81-F(MED)WB dated 17.09.2026 of the Medical Cell, Finance Department. It was ₹2,00,000 before that.

Can I get treatment under WBHS in a hospital that is not empanelled?

Yes, for indoor treatment within West Bengal. WBHS reimburses 60% of the approved rate, or 80% if the hospital has more than 80 beds, or the amount actually paid if that is less. The hospital must have held a valid licence under the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Act on the date of treatment. Cashless treatment is available only in empanelled hospitals.

Which hospitals outside West Bengal are covered by WBHS?

11 speciality hospitals are enlisted, including AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai, NIMHANS Bangalore and CMC Vellore. The actual cost of treatment on admissible items is reimbursed, along with the journey for the patient and one attendant.

What do Class-I, Class-II and Tier mean on a WBHS hospital?

The class decides how much of the WBHS rate the hospital is paid: 100% for Class-I and 80% for Class-II. The tier is the city class of the hospital (X, Y or Z), which picks the Tier-I, Tier-II or Tier-III rate. The WBHS Rate Finder on WBPAY shows the rate for every procedure by tier and class.

By Memorandum No. 81-F(MED)WB dated 17.09.2026, the Medical Cell of the Finance Department raised the cashless limit for indoor (IPD) treatment in private empanelled hospitals in West Bengal from ₹2,00,000 to ₹5,00,000 per hospitalisation. It applies to every admission on or after 01.10.2026, for employees, pensioners and their enrolled family members.
