The increment moves you to the next cell of your level in the ROPA 2019 pay matrix: 3% of basic pay, rounded to the nearest ₹100. If your basic pay is already the last cell of your level, no further increment is due until a promotion or financial upgradation.
West Bengal government employees get their annual increment on 1 July. Under ROPA 2019 an increment is not a fixed sum added to pay: it moves you one cell along your level in the pay matrix. Each cell is 3% above the one before it, rounded to the nearest ₹100, so the increment is roughly 3% of basic pay and grows a little every year.
Because dearness allowance, house rent allowance and Non-Practicing Allowance are all worked out on basic pay, the rise in gross salary is larger than the increment itself. The calculator shows both, and lists the increments still to come if you stay in the same level.
Who gets the increment on 1 July
- The date of annual increment is uniform: 1 July every year.
- You must have completed at least six months in the pay level as on 1 July. Someone who joined or was promoted after 1 January gets the first increment on 1 July of the following year.
- Periods of extraordinary leave without pay, and suspension not treated as duty, can postpone the increment.
- At the last cell of a level, increments stop until a promotion or a financial upgradation under the Career Advancement Scheme.

💡 How the Calculation Works
The increment moves basic pay to the next cell of the same level in the ROPA 2019 pay matrix. Each cell was built as the previous cell plus 3%, rounded to the nearest ₹100, so the calculator finds the next cell by multiplying your basic pay by 1.03 and rounding to the nearest hundred.
It then works out gross pay before and after: basic pay, NPA as a percentage of basic, DA on basic plus NPA, HRA at 12% of basic subject to the ₹12,000 ceiling, and medical allowance. The difference is what the increment adds to your salary.

An employee in Level 11 draws basic pay of ₹35,400 in June, with DA at 38%, HRA at 12% and a medical allowance of ₹500.
Next cell: 35,400 × 1.03 = 36,462, rounded to ₹36,500. The increment is ₹1,100.
Gross before: 35,400 + DA 13,452 + HRA 4,248 + MA 500 = ₹53,600.
Gross after: 36,500 + DA 13,870 + HRA 4,380 + MA 500 = ₹55,250.
The increment raises gross pay by ₹1,650 a month, or ₹19,800 a year.

The result assumes your basic pay is a cell of the ROPA 2019 pay matrix. A basic pay that is not a multiple of ₹100 usually means a typing error or personal pay; check your pay slip.
If your basic pay is the last cell of your level, no increment is due and the next cell shown does not exist. Your increment then depends on promotion or a financial upgradation.
The projection of later increments keeps DA, HRA and allowances at today’s rates, and does not account for promotion, financial upgradation or the next pay revision.
