UGC Fake Universities: This is a critical update for students and parents across the country. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently identified 22 universities nationwide as ‘fake’. UGC has published a notification to this effect on its official website, raising serious concerns about the future of thousands of students. The list also includes two institutions from West Bengal, causing a stir in the state’s education sector.
The UGC has clearly stated that these institutions were operating and claiming to be legitimate without any form of recognition. According to the UGC Act of 1956, these fake universities have no authority to award any degrees. Consequently, any academic qualification obtained from these 22 institutions will not be considered valid for professional purposes or higher education.
