Since August the government has said instalments come in the second week of each month; the August and September instalments both went out on the 17th. Counts are the figures the state government announced on the day. Women whose verification finishes later are paid in a later month; the scheme does not announce arrears for earlier months.

What comes next

  • Widow pension or Annapurna: choice due. Women drawing both must tell the administration in writing which one to keep; district magistrates and the KMC commissioner upload the choices to the portal by this date.
  • Seba Setu Abhijan camps. Three-day camps at every BDO office, municipality and municipal corporation, where stuck Annapurna and Krishak Bandhu payments are to be sorted out. Camp details (বাংলা)
  • 5th instalment. No date has been announced. Only women whose applications are verified and whose Aadhaar-seeded bank account has DBT enabled are paid.
  • New applications reopen. The Chief Minister said Jankalyan camps at gram panchayat and municipality level will take fresh applications, offline and online. The portal is closed to new applicants until then.

    Annapurna and widow pension cannot be drawn together

    The Secretary, Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Department, told all district magistrates and the KMC commissioner that the same woman cannot draw both. Women on both lists must choose one in writing on a prescribed form by 29 September. Annapurna can still be drawn with a disability pension or Krishak Bandhu.

    September ₹3,000 credited to about 1.5 crore women

    Released at a state event in Salt Lake that the Prime Minister addressed virtually. The Chief Minister declared 17 September “Annapurna Divas”, to be observed every year. The state gave the September count as 1.58 crore, about 10 lakh more than in August.

    “Claim by Applicant” lets a woman who was wrongly marked ineligible, or whose details were wrong, ask for re-verification with documents (PDF, JPG or PNG, 50–200 KB). “Objection against someone” reports an ineligible beneficiary. Claims go to the BDO or SDO and are re-checked at district level.

  5. 3rd instalment

    ₹4,350 crore to 1.45 crore women; 17 lakh applications rejected

    Of 1.62 crore applications verified, 17 lakh were rejected, about 10 lakh of them because the Aadhaar number could not be matched to the bank account; others were government employees or income-tax payers. Applications made between 11 and 31 July were still being verified. BDOs were told to fix Aadhaar–bank seeding with the banks.

    Eligibility rules revised; payment moved to the second week of each month

    The Chief Minister set out who is left out: women earning more than ₹10,000 a month, families with annual income of ₹12 lakh or more, and those owning more than 50 decimals of land in the seven municipal corporation areas. The three-room-house and land limits were eased in rural areas. Only verified women would be paid from 17 August.

    First round of applications closes

    Forms were taken online and offline from June to 31 July. The state had 1.80 crore applications by 10 July; those were verified first, and applications from 11–31 July were to be verified by 30 September.

    ASHA, anganwadi, civic volunteers and para-teachers put on hold

    After a post-distribution meeting, the Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Department held back applications from women who draw an honorarium from government schemes, and from families with a government employee, pensioner or income-tax payer, until further orders. Enquiry officers got an edit option on the portal from 9 July.

  9. Review meeting

    27.83 lakh applications provisionally rejected; field enquiry ordered

    A review in the presence of the Chief Secretary recorded 1.62 crore applications, 1.22 crore approved and 27.83 lakh provisionally rejected on the exclusion criteria (income tax, more than three rooms, GST). Field enquiry of the rejected forms began on 5 July, and offline forms were to be entered on the portal by 10 July.

    ₹3,000 credited to more than 1 crore women

    Released by the Chief Minister at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. The state announced the July list as more than 1.3 crore women; Akashvani reported more than one crore accounts credited on the day.

    Online form back after maintenance; 3 June applicants asked to resubmit

    The online form on the Family Level Data Collection Portal went into maintenance within hours of opening on 3 June. It reopened in a new format, and women who had applied on 3 June were asked to apply again. One mobile number can be linked to only one application.

    Scheme launched at Nabanna; ₹3,000 to 28,25,769 women

    The Chief Minister inaugurated the scheme at Nabanna, linked virtually to every block and municipality. The first payment went to Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries cleared in three days of verification, and 100 beneficiaries in each block and municipality got approval letters. Online applications opened the same day.

    The Chief Minister released the form with Women & Child Development Minister Agnimitra Paul and Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal. Registration was to run for 90 days from 1 June, online and at BDO and municipal offices, with officials going door to door for women who could not come.

    Notification No. 2411-WCD/O/AB-4/2026 dated 19.05.2026, Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, issued with Finance Department (Group-E) concurrence, U.O. No. 7 dated 17.05.2026. Women aged 25–60 who are not in permanent government employment or on a government pension and do not pay income tax get ₹3,000 a month by DBT. Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries are migrated, except electors found dead, shifted, deleted or absent in SIR-2026. BDOs (rural) and SDOs (urban) recommend; district magistrates, and the KMC commissioner in Kolkata, sanction.

    Cabinet approves Annapurna Bhandar from 1 June

    At the new government’s second cabinet meeting, announced by Minister Agnimitra Paul: Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries would move to the new scheme at ₹3,000 a month. The same meeting approved the 7th Pay Commission and free bus travel for women.

    Assembly election results were declared on 4 May 2026. The ₹3,000 promise became the new government’s first welfare decision.

    Lakshmir Bhandar begins

    The previous government’s monthly grant for women started at ₹500 (₹1,000 for SC/ST women) and was raised to ₹1,000 / ₹1,200 in 2024. Its beneficiary list became the starting list for Annapurna Yojana.

Annapurna Yojana at a glance

Annapurna Yojana (অন্নপূর্ণা যোজনা, often called Annapurna Bhandar) pays ₹3,000 a month by Direct Benefit Transfer to eligible women in West Bengal. It was introduced by the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare through Notification No. 2411-WCD/O/AB-4/2026 dated 19 May 2026, with effect from 1 June 2026, and replaced the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. Four monthly instalments have been paid so far: on 3 June, 1 July, 17 August and 17 September 2026.

Who gets it now

The notification set three conditions. The government has since added exclusions and relaxations through announcements and departmental instructions, listed here with their dates.

  • Age 25 to 60, resident in West Bengal (notification, 19.05.2026).
  • Not in permanent government employment and not drawing a government pension: union or state government, statutory bodies, government undertakings, panchayats, municipalities, local bodies, and teaching or non-teaching staff of state-aided educational institutions (notification, 19.05.2026).
  • Not an income-tax payer (notification, 19.05.2026).
  • Own income up to ₹10,000 a month, and family income below ₹12 lakh a year (Chief Minister, 12.08.2026).
  • Land: more than 50 decimals disqualifies only in the seven municipal corporation areas; the land and three-room-house limits were eased in rural areas (12.08.2026).
  • Other benefits: Annapurna can be drawn with a disability pension, PM-KISAN or Krishak Bandhu, but not with the widow pension — women getting both must choose one (departmental directive reported on 22.09.2026).
  • Bank account: in the woman’s own name, Aadhaar-seeded, with DBT enabled. A mismatch between Aadhaar and bank records was the main reason for the 17 lakh rejections reported in August.

From Lakshmir Bhandar to Annapurna Yojana

Existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries were moved to the new scheme without a fresh application, except electors identified as dead, shifted, deleted or absent during the special intensive revision of the electoral roll (SIR-2026). Women with an appeal pending before the SIR tribunal, or an application under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, keep getting the money until their case is decided. Lakshmir Bhandar paid ₹1,500 a month (₹1,700 for SC/ST women) from February 2026; Annapurna pays ₹3,000 to every eligible woman.

Applications are verified by Block Development Officers in rural areas and Sub-Divisional Officers in urban areas, who recommend eligible names to the District Magistrate. In Kolkata Municipal Corporation areas, KMC officers verify and the KMC Commissioner sanctions.

How entries are classified

  • Payments: each monthly instalment, with the date it was credited and the count the government announced.
  • Orders & portal: the notification, departmental directives and meeting decisions, and changes to the application portal.
  • Announcements: cabinet decisions, press conferences and statements by the Chief Minister and ministers.
  • Background: the election promise and the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme it replaced. These are context, not decisions.

Important notes

  • Beneficiary counts: these are the figures the government announced on the day. Different officials and reports sometimes give different numbers for the same instalment; the ledger says which source it uses.
  • Unpublished instructions: several rule changes (the 8 July hold on honorarium workers, the widow pension choice) were issued as departmental instructions that have not been published on a government website. They are shown as reported.
  • Payment date: an instalment is released over a few days, so it can reach some accounts two or three days after the date shown.
  • Updates: this tracker is revised when an instalment is paid or a new order is issued. Check the date in the status panel.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Annapurna Yojana payment date?

Four instalments have been paid so far: 3 June 2026 (first instalment, 28.25 lakh women), 1 July 2026, 17 August 2026 and 17 September 2026. The October 2026 date has not been announced. Since August the government has said payments will be made in the second week of each month, but the August and September instalments were both released on the 17th.

How much money does Annapurna Yojana give?

Rs 3,000 a month, credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to the Aadhaar-linked bank account in the woman's own name, with effect from 1 June 2026, under Notification No. 2411-WCD/O/AB-4/2026 dated 19.05.2026.

Who is eligible for Annapurna Yojana?

Women aged 25 to 60 living in West Bengal who are not in permanent government employment or on a government pension and do not pay income tax. Do Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries need to apply again?

No. The notification migrated existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries to Annapurna Yojana, except electors identified as dead, shifted, deleted or absent during SIR-2026. Those with a pending SIR tribunal appeal or a Citizenship (Amendment) Act application continue to be paid until their case is decided.

How do I check my Annapurna Yojana status?

Go to socialregistry.wb.gov.in, open Access Citizen Portal, choose your district, enter the mobile number used in the application and log in with the OTP. The status (Submitted, Enquiry Reverted, Enquiry Processed or Accepted) is shown on the downloaded form. Offline applicants can ask at the BDO or SDO office.

What should I do if the Annapurna money has not come?

First make sure your bank account is in your own name, seeded with Aadhaar and enabled for DBT, and that the name and date of birth match your Aadhaar. Then use the Claim by Applicant option on the portal, open since 20 August 2026, to ask for re-verification with supporting documents, or go to the BDO or SDO office. The Seba Setu Abhijan camps at BDO offices on 2 to 4 October 2026 are also meant to sort out stuck payments.

Can I get the widow pension and Annapurna Yojana together?

No. A directive from the Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Department, reported on 22 September 2026, says the two cannot be drawn together. Women getting both must give a written choice, which the district administration uploads to the portal by 29 September 2026. Annapurna can be drawn with a disability pension or Krishak Bandhu.

When will new Annapurna Yojana applications open?

The first application window ran from June to 31 July 2026 and the portal is closed to new applicants. The Chief Minister has said fresh applications will be taken at Jankalyan camps at gram panchayat and municipality level in November and December 2026, offline and online.
